Welcome to
NoPa
NoPa, short for North of the Panhandle, is a neighborhood in San Francisco that is located just north of Golden Gate Park. An eclectic cultural mix of restaurants and boutiques, from funky to high-end, flourish defines this almost-perfect rectangle. As streetcar lines began to develop in the 1920’s at around the same time Golden Gate Park and the Panhandle Park were built as middle-class families began to move into Western Addition and The Outerlands areas. It is around this same time that references to "North of the Panhandle" or "North of Panhandle" can be found.
